Why our Geelong Chiropractor treats back pain in more than 1 way!

Posted on February 21, 2023 in News

In our Geelong Chiropractic clinic, back pain is something that we see every single day. Patients present with upper, middle and lower back pain for many different reasons including the following:

In order to provide every patient with the best possible care we take each patient through a series of assessments and ask targeted clinical questions to get to the bottom of your back pain. If warranted we will also get X-Ray/MRI/Ultrasound imaging done to further investigate.

This thorough approach ensures that we can tailor our Chiropractic care to the individual patient rather than just delivering the same adjustments to every patient at every single visit.

You can see in the video below an example of 3 different ways that Dr Matthew treats Lower back pain within the clinic.

As mentioned above each patient is unique and each back injury is different this is why at Shannon Avenue Chiropractic our Chiropractors treat back pain in more than one way. Tailored Chiropractic care ensures that YOU the patient feel listened to and that you receive the best possible outcome.

Treatment Options for back pain.

Despite the many misconceptions Chiropractic care isn’t just manual adjustments or “cracking”. Our Geelong Chiropractors specialise in back pain and can treat back pain through a variety of different treatment modalities. These skills are perfected during their 5 years of studies as well as many clinical hours and post-graduate studies to ensure that you receive the best possible and up-to-date care.

  • Manual Adjustments (What most people relate to as “cracking”) – this helps to mobilise the joints, restoring normal movement and function.
  • Activator – This is a lighter technique to adjust/mobilise the joints of the spine and pelvis to restore normal function
  • Traction – Helps to stretch out the spinal joints and disc’s, in particular, the lower back (that can be compressed due to everyday living) and helps take pressure off the spine.
  • Soft Tissue Therapy, massage, active release therapies. – Releases muscle tightness and reduces muscular pain in and around the spinal joints.
  • Prescribed Exercises and Stretches/strengthening exercises – Completing exercises at home can help reduce recovery time and strengthen your back to avoid future injuries.
  • Pillows and sleep hygiene recommendations – considering how much time we spend in bed (Roughly around 1/3 of our life), our sleep posture and hygiene can have a huge impact on the health of our spine, We can recommend sleeping positions, and pillows that help prevent you from waking up with back pain.
