Lower back pain & Chiropractic care – Geelong
Posted on April 1, 2018 in NewsLower back pain is a condition that we see regularly at Shannon Avenue Chiropractic it affects a wide range of the Australian population with statistics showing that 8 out of 10 Australians will suffer with back pain over their lifespan. The lower back region is between the lower ribs and the pelvis, this area is made up of 5 movable lumbar vertebrae that are separated by lumbar discs.
The lumbar is supported by strong muscles and ligaments with spinal nerves running between each of the vertebrae. The pelvis also provides additional stability to the spine during movement and activities. These structures enable the spine to be strong and limber allowing both movement and flexibility while still protecting our spinal cord and nerves.
When we experience lower back pain, its often a result of one or all of these structures functioning incorrectly, this can be from an obvious injury or gradual wear and tear. Lower back pain can be painful and debilitating, restricting movement and making it almost impossible to complete daily. Back pain is one of the most common reasons patients people come to see us at Shannon Avenue Chiropractic
Research has found that chiropractic care has the following benefits, compared to conventional treatment options:
